Haroutune K. Armenian, M.D., Dr.P.H., presented his thoughts and ideas elicited by reading the book “The Black Swan” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb during the Public Health Seminar Series on October 4, 2010. Dr. Armenian is a Professor of Epidemiology at AUA, Professor in residence at the UCLA, Professor Emeritus at Johns Hopkins University. 
AUA students, faculty, graduates, and representatives of health NGOs/Agencies attended the presentation by Dr. Armenian “From Discovery to Application: an Alternative Perspective on Epidemiology.” A reception to celebrate the start of the new academic year followed the event.
