The Nursing in Armenia Project team translated the findings of the Nursing in Armenia Assessment Project from English to Armenian and shared with different groups of nurses. During summer and fall 2016, we conducted four such meetings in Yerevan and different provinces of Armenia, during which the results of the project were shared with more than 300 participants. In addition, as a continuation of the nurse professional development events, a workshop was organized on care for children with special needs for nurses from rehabilitation centers and primary healthcare facilities.
Based on the study findings and literature review, the team developed three concept papers on improving nursing education, policies and practice. In addition, the USA RN to BSN programs were reviewed and a summary was prepared that focused on accreditation related issues.
The Nursing in Armenia team members Kristina Akopyan and Serine Sahakyan presented the major findings of the project at the 9th European Public Health Conference in Vienna, Austria, on November 9-12, 2016. The abstracts were published in the European Journal of Public Health (2016 November) Volume 26, Supplement 1. Since January 2017, the team has been working on the following activities: organizing a new workshop for nurse administrators – which will take place in July 2017; and development of two manuscripts and selection of international peer-reviewed journals for publication. In addition, an abstract was developed and accepted by the 10th European Public Health Conference.
