The College of Health Sciences (CHS) of AUA joined the celebration of World Health Day organizing a public lecture on April 3 within CHS Public Health Seminars Series. Dr. George Jakab, a Professor at Johns Hopkins University and a Visiting Professor at AUA, highlighted the major Global Environmental Health challenges and concluded the lecture with the following key message: “Ignore the environment… and it will go away.”
World Health Day marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO). Each year a theme is selected for the World Health Day to highlight a priority area of concern for the WHO. This year’s theme is “Protecting Health from Climate Change.”
Following the public lecture the College of Health Sciences hosted a Reception for students and alumni of the Master of Public Health Program to continue the celebration.
AUA students, alumni, representatives of local NGOs and the general public attended the lecture.
