Assessment of the Impact of Institutionalization of Patient-Centered Tuberculosis Treatment in Armenia Project

(In partnership with the Ministry of Health and National Center of Pulmonology)

Funding Agency: Armenian Medical Fund

PI: Varduhi Petrosyan, PhD and Co-PI: Anahit Demirchyan, MD, MPH

The main objective of the study is to assess the impact of family-based Directly Observed
Therapy (DOT) on the treatment outcomes of drug-sensitive TB patients compared to drag-
sensitive TB patients treated with facility-based DOT in Armenia.

The secondary objective is to measure the effect of family based DOT on secondary outcomes
among drag-sensitive TB patients, including TB-related knowledge of patients and their
supporting family members, patients’ health-related quality of life and depression, TB-related
stigma and family/social support from patients’ and family members’ perspective.
The CHSR will continue supporting the National Pulmonology Center in implementing the
Patient-centered care for TB patients involving their family members.
