EPACTT project- European Accreditation Curriculum on Tobacco Treatment Project

(In partnership with European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention)

Funding Agency: European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention

PI: Zhanna Sargsyan, MPH and Zara Grigoryan, MPH

The CHSR team translated and adapted the special chapter for Armenian version of the “ENSP
Guidelines for treating tobacco dependence”. This new Chapter 7: Smoking Cessation on high
risk population groups includes five sections:
1. Health Effects of Smoking in Pregnancy
2. Smoking Cessation among Adolescents
3. Smoking Cessation in patients with diabetes
4. Smoking Cessation in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
5. Smoking Cessation in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease
The CHSR team translated into Armenian and culturally/linguistically adapted additional two
modules of EPACTT e-learning program including module PPTs, the quizzes for each module
and the scripts. Using the developed scripts for each e-learning module the voiceovers in
Armenian language were recorded. The additional two modules are the following: Module 5:
Harm reduction and Module 6: High Risk Populations. We also discussed with ENSP team the
opportunity to have access to the Armenian sub-platform under the main ENSP website. We
have provided translations of the menu and other requested materials. This would give the CHSR
an opportunity to manage the content and to include other relevant resources available in
Armenian language. All the translated materials were sent to the ENSP team for the developers
to publish online.

As a member of ENSPNext (European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention Youth
Group), under Zaruhi Grigoryan (MPH15)’s lead CHSR team participated in the development
and implementation of a digital communication campaign “Tobacco Free Advent Calendar
2023” (TFAC) to share information on the harm of tobacco on health and environment, and
encourage youth to engage in tobacco control and quit smoking in 5 languages (English,
Romanian, Spanish, Italian and Armenian). During 24 days, the Calendar featured thematic posts
and the Armenian version of the calendar was mainly disseminated via social media, through
youth organizations and was embedded to AUA CHSR website.
CHSR also joined the ENSPNext on Valentine’s Day campaign initiated by the youth group
member from University of Sapienza. The campaign evolved around the topic of love and how
quitting smoking may be seen as a demonstration of love to oneself, others, and environment.
During the seven day campaign, daily posts were published on CHS Facebook page. To enrich
the reach, CHSR team involved youth influencers. On February 14, CHSR team distributed V-
Day cards among AUA students promoting campaign messages.
